No account, by design
Most workout apps put an account between you and your logbook so they can run a social feed, a coaching marketplace or a web app. SetGrip has none of those, so it has no reason to know who you are. There is no email field anywhere in the app, no password to reset and no profile to delete.
- No sign-up or login. Install, open, log a set.
- No ads, no feed, no friends, no leaderboards.
- No SetGrip server holding your workouts. The app has no backend for training data.
Where the data actually lives
Every routine, workout and record is written to a database on your iPhone. That database is mirrored into your private iCloud database (Apple's CloudKit), the same mechanism Apple uses for Notes and Reminders. It belongs to your Apple ID, it is encrypted by Apple, and no one else, including SetGrip's developer, can open it.
iCloud sync follows your phone's iCloud settings. There is no separate toggle in the app. With iCloud on, a new iPhone signed into the same Apple ID gets your full history. With iCloud off, SetGrip keeps everything on the device only.
Because there is no account, there is also no password-recovery backup somewhere else. Your copies are: the iPhone, your iCloud, and any CSV or JSON file you export.
Offline
The app, the database and the complete exercise library with all 1,151 demonstration videos are on the device. Logging, rest timers, records, statistics, Apple Watch logging and export work with airplane mode on. Sync, purchases and the request board catch up when you are back online.
What does talk to a server, and what it sends
A privacy page that claims nothing ever leaves the phone would be wrong, so here is the full list.
| Service | What is sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple iCloud (your account) | Your routines and workouts, encrypted, to your private database | Backup and sync between your devices |
| Apple Health (on device) | Finished workouts. Heart rate and calories are read only during a Watch session | Only if you grant permission |
| App Store / RevenueCat | Purchase status for Premium, no workout data | To unlock Premium and restore purchases |
| TelemetryDeck analytics | Anonymous events such as "workout finished" or "paywall shown", never workout content, names, numbers or identifiers that follow you | To see which features are used |
| WishKit request board | Only the feature or exercise requests you choose to post (Premium) | Voting on ideas |
SetGrip's App Store privacy label states that no data is used to track you. Apple's own review checks that label against the app.
Leaving is one tap
- Export: Settings → Data → Export Workout Data gives you a CSV or a JSON file of every finished workout. Details.
- Delete: Settings → Data → Delete All Data removes everything from the iPhone, your iCloud and your other SetGrip devices once they sync. Workouts already in Apple Health stay in Health.
