Apple Health is optional. Settings → Apple Health shows whether it is connected, and iOS asks for permission the first time. Decline it and everything else in SetGrip keeps working, including Apple Watch set logging.
- Written to Health: each finished workout as a Traditional Strength Training workout with its duration. Workouts run on the Watch include heart rate and active energy from the Watch session.
- Read from Health: heart rate and active energy, only while a Watch workout session is running, to show live metrics on the wrist and in the Live Activity.
- Not touched: steps, sleep, weight, nutrition or any other Health category.
A workout is saved once even when both devices are involved: if the Watch ran the session, the iPhone does not save a duplicate. Deleting all SetGrip data does not remove workouts already saved to Apple Health. Those are yours in the Health app.
